Details

G&B Civil Engineering Ltd were awarded the contract to construct large in-situ concrete headwalls on the river Coquet in Northumberland.

The headwalls were built to act as an inlet and outlet as part of one of Europe’s largest Hydro-electricity schemes. Works had to be planned meticulously due to the site being classed as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Works included excavation by the banks of the river, installation of reinforced concrete including steel fixing and shuttering and pipelaying.

Works were carried from July 2020 to October 2020 and all works were on time and within budget.
