- Intricate Scaffolding Installation: Positioned safely around the live overhead line, ensuring uninterrupted rail services.
- Structural Steelwork Repairs: Strengthened and replaced critical components to enhance the bridge’s stability.
- Timber Framework Restoration: Returned the original timber elements to their former glory.
- Cladding Replacement: Replaced deteriorated timber cladding with durable, anti-vandal Glass-Reinforced Plastic (GRP).
- Window Installation: Fitted robust polycarbonate glazing for enhanced safety and aesthetics.
- Protective Steel Coating: Grit blasted and re-coated structural steelwork for long-term protection against environmental wear.
- Heritage Colours: Restored the bridge to its original Victorian-era colours of brown and yellow.
Challenges and Solutions
- Heritage Constraints: Preservation of historical features was paramount. We collaborated closely with consultants and specialists to ensure that all restorations adhered to heritage guidelines.
- Live Environment: Working within a live rail environment posed significant safety challenges. Our team employed detailed planning and coordination with partners to maintain safety and avoid service disruptions.
- Material Durability: The use of GRP and polycarbonate ensured the structure met modern standards for resilience and vandal resistance.
